Saudi’s Oil, Sharia and Muhammad Throttle Free Speech and Hamza Kashgari

“If the FREE world does nothing then Saudi will do it again. They simply don't care.” tweet from Al Fadi, Saudi Christian @BrotherAlfadi

“Whoever insults God or his messenger is to be killed without being asked for repentance for this is his sentence that must be carried out on him.” Dr. Salih bin Fawzan al-Fawzan, Saudi Muslim Councilor

The other day BBC radio ran an in depth broadcast on the story of this young Saudi blogger who fled Saudi to escape arrest and probable death only to be arrested in Malaysia and shipped back to Saudi. He had tweeted some doubts about Muhammad on Muhammad's Birthday. The BBC's guests had opposing views and the moderator went back and forth between a Saudi man who agreed with the blasphemy charge and a Muslim woman who did not. What would Muhammad do?

The woman argued for free speech and freedom to question or even mock the prophet. She told a story from Mecca in which Muhammad was mocked repeatedly and did not react in anger or seek revenge. The smooth spoken Saudi man came back with, "Yes, yes, beautiful, beautiful," (that was his stock intro to his comments) but Hamza must be an example and face judgement. If he gets away with this, he said, there will be no end of the blasphemies. He did not talk about all the revenge, torture, deceit and assasination that followed that 'merciful, forgiving' incident in Mohammad's Medina years, but it is the basis for Saudi's blasphemy law.

May Muslims who think the Mecca years trump Medina gain in their efforts to reform Islam. But the intimidating arm of the original Islam is long. Sharia supports the blasphemy law, at least a strict interpretation does. And massive amounts of oil wealth corrupts. Al Fadi tweeted, "the Saudis have major control over the world with their oil money. He was sold for a price."

But here is the greatest duplicity: Malaysia and Saudi sit at the UN on the Human Rights Council, and talk two-faced about human rights, a major reason the UN was formed, while the violence, oppression and injustice of political Islam carries on under their own noses.

“It is appalling that one member of the UN Human Rights Council will likely attempt to impose the death penalty on a person for expressing his views, while another member of the Human Rights Council has deported him to face these absurd charges.” Sarah Leah Whitson, Middle East director at Human Rights Watch.

But as Al Fadi put it, "They simply don't care." And Muhammad did not care. He did not care that he violated his own once stated principles and teachings of peace and tolerance with so much violence and intolerance IN HIS OWN LIFE. He did not care that so many Muslim men worldwide would delight in the license to seek power and pleasure at any cost, all to be forgiven at Friday prayers.

Facebook pages for and against Hamza score 8000 for, verses 26,629 against. (Feb 17th, 5:25pm ET) What does this say about Islam? If people felt free to side with Hamza, would there be more than 8000? I believe there would. Do the 26,000 really want him dead, or does that save their own necks to say so? Like Muhammad, Islam is an evasive creature.
